Business Development & Community Relations Representative

Are you a dynamic and results-driven business development professional? Do you love St. Pete? If so, consider joining our team! The St. Petersburg Economic Development Corp. seeks someone outgoing and organized to support the EDC’s mission of helping out-of-market companies discover, explore, and choose St. Pete for business relocation or expansion.

What You’ll Do

As our Business Development & Community Relations Representative, you’ll support the EDC’s mission by actively advancing the pipeline of companies considering St. Pete, responding to and qualifying leads, and shepherding them through the exploration and decision process.  You’ll serve as an ambassador to community stakeholders and economic development partners. You’ll develop and grow relationships with current and potential EDC Investors to support the EDC’s Investor retention and recruitment efforts.

In this role, you will:

  • Advance the pipeline of prospect businesses considering St. Pete for relocation or expansion.
  • Set up and coordinate site visits.
  • Research existing data on target industries, workforce, available space, etc.
  • Develop and grow relationships with current and potential EDC Investors, as well as with key community and business stakeholders.

This is an in-person onsite position (not remote/hybrid). There will be regular evening events outside working hours.

The salary range for this position is $40-60K, depending on experience.

What You’ll Bring

Our ideal candidate will have most of the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or marketing or equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • 2-5 years proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a B2B environment.
  • Sales training highly desirable.
  •  Deep knowledge of and love for St. Petersburg/Pinellas County/Tampa Bay region.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently and effectively, in writing and verbally.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with CRM systems (we use HubSpot).
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Desire to help a very small team be hugely effective.
  • Access to reliable transportation to attend meetings around the Tampa Bay region, including evening events outside normal working hours.
