Michael Igel, Partner

Mike Igel is Board Certified in Health Law by The Florida Bar. Board certification is the highest evaluation of an attorney’s competence and experience comprising only 5% of Florida’s lawyers.

Mike is a Co-Chair of the Johnson Pope Health Care Team, and concentrates his practice on the representation of physician groups, pharmacies, hospices, hospitals and health systems, home health agencies and other health care companies in a variety of regulatory, compliance and health care business matters. As the Chair of Johnson Pope’s Health Care Audit Defense Team, Mike has extensive experience in representing health care providers in defense of claims for overpayment by Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance companies.

Mike’s practice includes matters involving state and federal regulation of health care industries, physician-hospital joint ventures, health care provider overpayment audit defense, ambulatory surgery centers, hospital operations, mergers and acquisitions, medical staff bylaws, HIPAA compliance, clinical research, managed care contracts, and electronic medical records.

Mike also counsels clients in asset protection and estate and gift planning.
