Thomas Jewsbury is a dedicated airport professional who has devoted his entire career to the airport industry. Prior to entering the airport management profession, he graduated with honors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management. During college, he acquired his private pilot license at age 20 and first entered the aviation industry by working as a Customer Service Representative for Peoples Express Airlines.

Tom possesses more than 30 years of increasingly responsible airport management experience at small-hub commercial service airports with 20+ years of executive level experience. He began his professional career in 1990 as an Airport Operations Supervisor at the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1994 he began his tenure with the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) as an Operations Supervisor to help develop the newly created Operations Division. During his 30-year tenure at PIE, Tom has received several promotions including Operations Manager, Director of Operations, and 13 years as Deputy Airport Director before becoming Executive Airport Director in 2015. He manages a small-hub international commercial service airport that serves approximately 2.5 million passengers annually and offers non-stop service to over 60 destinations. Tom administers a $16 million operating budget and a $200 million Capital Improvement Program over the next 5-years.

At PIE, he is fortunate to lead a dedicated hardworking staff of 64 employees that operate and maintain among one of the fastest growing commercial service airports in the past few years, which is also comprised of 1,900 acres of airfield and industrial park with 59 ground/building leases.

Tom has previously served on the ACI-NA Board of Directors and U.S. Policy Council for Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) and is a Certified Member (C.M) of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Tom has Chaired both the Regional and Statewide steering committees for the Continuing Florida Aviation System Planning Process (CFASPP) that serves to advise FDOT and FAA of critical aviation issues. In addition, Tom served as Chair of the Secure Airports for Florida’s Economy (SAFE) Council that was established by the state legislature following the events of 9/11, to focus on efforts to enhance the safety and security of airport passenger and cargo facilities. He is also a past-President of the Florida Airports Council and bestowed the “Aviation Leadership of the Year” award for demonstrating outstanding service and contribution to the Florida aviation/airport community.
