Silicon Shore: ST. PETE, FL

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (February 12, 2020)— The Greater St. Petersburg Area Economic Development Corporation (EDC) released the first in a series of videos that promotes technology companies, major employers, and innovation in St. Petersburg.

As part of the EDC’s talent attraction campaign, Become St. Pete, the video will target technology, data, and financial services firms and job seekers in the greater New York and New Jersey areas. The EDC aims to position St. Pete as a refreshing solution to more commonly thought of tech meccas like Silicon Valley and Austin.

“Silicon Shores has emerged as a haven for the brilliant minds fleeing 4-hour commutes and corporate buyouts,” the video says. “Companies are finding St Pete the perfect place to establish an Innovation Hub—where their investments go four times further than other tech cities.”

One of St. Pete’s fastest growing startups, InsideOut is a lead feature in the video, along The Penny Hoarder, Station House, and Founder and CEO of Intrinio, Rachel Carpenter.

“The St. Pete business ecosystem has helped fuel our growth to 200 employees in the downtown area over the past two years,” Chad Nuss, co-founder and chief revenue officer of InsideOut said. “Our company reflects everything that is St. Pete: diversity, equality, art, business, science, tech and the best quality of life in the country. St. Pete is poised for growth, and we couldn’t be happier to lead the charge for this great city.”

The EDC plans to release three similar videos as part of a digital strategy.

“People are often surprised by our regional assets, strong startup culture, and density of technology companies and Fortune 1,000 employers,” J.P. DuBuque, President and CEO of the EDC said. “We know we’ve got something really special here in St. Pete and our hope is to continue attracting even more innovative thinkers to be a part of our community.”

Silicon Shore was developed by the local production agency, PPK.
