Tampa Bay is Top Region in Florida for Tech Employee Relocation; #6 in Country

Tech workers are moving to the Tampa Bay region

Tech workers are moving to the Tampa Bay region in droves.

The Tampa Bay region was the #1 region in Florida for tech employee relocation and #6 in the nation according to a Tampa Bay Business Journal analysis of LinkedIn worker migration data. The Tampa Bay region had about 128 employees per every 10,00 LinkedIn users relocate to the area between May 2020 and April 2021.

The Business Journal noted that the migration isn’t limited to individual workers; tech-driven tax solutions provider CrossBorder Solutions and tech training company CodeBoxx Technology both relocated their headquarters to St. Petersburg in 2021. CrossBorder Solutions plans to hire nearly 300 people this year, and CodeBoxx has already registered 100 people in its first St. Pete-based cohort of developers. Nicolas Genest, CodeBoxx’s founder and CEO, told the Catalyst that “One of the reasons we picked St. Pete/Tampa is that a lot of companies in California are moving [here]. You guys are the new Austin. That’s how I see it, so I want to be ahead of the curve.”
