Tampa Bay is Top 15 U.S. Metro for Tech Jobs

A recent Brookings Institution report includes Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater as one of the top 15 metro areas that is " increasing their share of the nation’s tech sector (as defined by five key digital services industries ranging from software development and computer systems design to web publishing)," noting that the list "is now dominated by a group of non-superstar cities wholly different from the Big Tech meccas that ruled for years."

St. Petersburg's tech scene continues to grow, from data analytics to fintech to marine science tech.  Robotics and AI are flourishing, as the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing and sustainable furniture manufacturer Haddy chose St. Pete for new locations. The ARK Innovation Center at the Tampa Bay Innovation Center recently held a ribbon cutting to celebrate St. Pete's newest business incubator, designed to attract startups in the Internet of Things, energy, fintech, artificial intelligence and blockchain.

The report noted that public and private investment has led to an expansion of tech jobs nationwide, particularly in tech ecosystems outside California's traditional Bay area. As Cathie Wood said at the opening of the ARK Innovation Center, "We're on to something big here, like a new Bay area."
